A disagreement between the union and management about the new compensation system at Brooks Brothers has ended up in arbitration.

In 2006, as part of the settlement of a new contract after months of negotiations, Brooks Brothers workers and management came to an agreement about a new compensation system. The new system introduced store targets that partially determine individual employees’ commission rate and set in place a quarterly commission system. The dispute now is over payments at the end of the quarter.

The case was argued before an arbitrator on April 2 and written briefs were due on April 23. A decision is expected mid- to late-May.
