CSS negotiations—Updates

Update #1: Negotiations underway and making progress

Local 340's contract with CSS, the cleaning company that cleans the Barneys Madison Avenue store, has been extended to April 30, 2007. The original expiration date was April 2, and union and management negotiators agreed to extend it while they met and discussed a new agreement.

The union's negotiating team includes Aida Rivera and Caonabo Soto, Local 340 members at CSS, as well as 340 Business Representative Elba Liz. Pedro Garlaza, a Business Rep with the New York New Jersey Regional Joint Board of which Local 340 is a part, is also assisting in the negotiations.

Union and management negotiators have met twice and have made progress towards an agreement. Issues of concern for the 30 Local 340 members at CSS include health insurance, wages, vacations and leaves of absense.
